In the data appearance tab of the table settings dialog, the decimal places setting overrides the significant digits setting.
The significant digits setting can be deactivated by setting it to zero, the decimal places setting cannot be deactivated.
Proposal:

To allow deactivation of the decimal places setting, (display as required for the significant digits setting or "as is"
-
Or to provide a radio button list for activation of decimal places or significant digits with just one numeric entry field.
