Proposal 1: Provide operator forms of norme(), normi(), norm1(), something like shown here, but of course with double lines of equal length and with tighter index spacing.
Proposal 2: Similarity to paper and pencil would be better if the delimiters of matrices inside det and norm would be suppressed. This might imply a context-sensitive mat() dressing.
