[X-Y Plot] Remove spurious line segments from function graphs

 Description

I recommend to suppress any line segment of a function graph, when both vertices are outside the plot limits. This would avoid the vertical lines in the following plot:

This might not be sensible for pre-defined shapes or polygons.
