This is a two part question.

1. What is the working path for the "Applications" part of the Extensions Manager?

I know where the folders are for examples, snips, etc., but can't seem to find anything for applications.

2. Can we change the working paths for the "local Storage" of the snips, examples, applications, etc.?

It would be nice to be able to pick a path on a server than can be shared between several workstations.
Maybe even add an additional path, so one can select, online, local, or additional path.

I don't know where SMath looks for files when displaying local storage for application. I think that for viewer applications the extension manager just provides access to the online gallery and doesn't organize anything locally.

This is ok, given that you can run applications independently of SMath Studio from the file manager.

Default location for download via extension manager seems to be the current directory, but you should be able to store the download anywhere.

I think that the more important question here is if we can change the default file paths for snips, examples, etc., for other paths (network drives for example).

That is really what I'm after.

Hi Martin. I think that SMath looks at c:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\SMath\settings.inf

Even there are not entries for the request, there are similar entries like the recent file list, the font for text regions, size, page settings, default interactive tutorial path and other general configuration settings.

Best regards.
Alvaro.

A dirty way would be to install a portable version on network storage and run SMath from there.
What happens if users try that in parallel, is inpredictable, I guess.

Yeah, I don't think this will work very well. I guess using file explorer to organize snips, examples, etc., will have to suffice. Would have been nice to use the build in manager.

Question was asked and answered a few months ago. I have not seen an update from the programmers
and to outdo myself ...

My guess is that most people don't use Smath in a work/collaborative environment. No demand, no need to change it.

I requested it, non work/collaborative environment. My reasoning is to be able to have "my snippets" accessible if I'm using the latest stable or a portable flash drive with the nightly. I'm sure I'm not the only one. It shouldn't be that difficult. I can see an implementation similar to "CurrentDirectory" or "RFile". Examples:
Quote

  • SnipDirectory("T:\Calculations\SMath\Snippets" Now we can use the Snippet Manager
  • SnipFile({directory path},{snippet file name}.sm) Now we can cherry pick a specific file
