There are some issues with how the settings dialog is called:

If a new region is created via Insert> Maxima> Draw3D, then a single click on that region opens the settings dialog. This might be called a feature, yet normally, the settings dialog should only open on double click

The double click timeout is very long, so even two consecutive single clicks open the settings dialog.

The settings dialog should not be opened if the user clicks (or even double-clicks) on the placeholder.

If possible, an open settings dialog should not prevent the placeholder from getting back focus and being edited.

Settings made with the demo plot (at empty placeholder) can't be applied using the "Apply" button. It would make sense to allow that.
