Hello,
It will be useful for the people that wish to have a mathematical solution as part of the document to be able to type equations (there is need for a text mathematical editor or SMath Mode and additional mathematical symbols).

In the following example I cannot put a prime (single quote) after the right parenthesis.

Typing dif TAB gives you a placeholder with a prime.

Think in terms of more working maths, get inspired from:
Matlab, Maple, Mathematica, Mathcad ...
IMHO, I don't see much use to re-invent maths, accepted for centuries.

Up to Mathcad 11, they had ', '', ''' for differential equations set.
Personnaly, I don't understand what you want to demonstrate in your image.

Martin, Thank you

Jean,
This is part of the solution of a problem which I would like to be able to type using only SMath.
I do not think it is possible because I am missing all the mathematical symbols needed.

How do you type the n on the nominator after the d?
I can not put the cursor after the d.

Hello, Basile.

Not sure about X-Y Plot usage (the last region on your screenshot), but everything else works as expected in the latest version of SMath Studio.

Andrey and Jean,

Somehow the derivative and integral from the palette does not work.
I restarted the machine. Windows 10.

Yes, they work ... but the right way of assigning the task.
Puzzling: your plot should show the first derivative [n = 1]

Basile: please look at your extensions, and try to disable them (esp. Maxima, which was shown to cause multiple failures recently). I remember that at least once, it was reported that disabling was not enough, and Maxima had to be removed.

Mike,
Maxima is not installed in this computer.
I disabled the Maxima plug in.

Same results.

Any other idea?

First, you didn't notice whether you use installed or portable version.
If it's portable, I'm out of suggestions.
If it's installed, then I would suggest a clean reinstall: remove it using add/remove programs, remove remnants (SMath*) from program files, remove (rename) SMath directory in %appdata%, reinstall.

I'm not sure about the distinction: => [built-in] or [Maxima] <=

diff("1:expression", "2:expression", "3:expression") - [built-in] or [Maxima]
derivate(expr, var, n) derivates expr n times with respect to var

I would think it follows the rules of "Derivative" independent of Maxima.
Maybe not, rather borrowing these rules from Maxima. Maybe not again, it
could be the 1/1 Maxima code to make it "built-in".

Basile: just reproduce as is from the image. That's the only way to check.
Never mind the red and make an image for other collab to reproduce.

I uninstalled,
I installed.I opened the test file by Andrey sent previously
I observed that momentarily I get the screen with the details (I did print screen) and then immediately reverts to the one with the error!!!

Did you do the cleanup in between in program files and %appdata%?
Really, all this looks like a corrupted install or profile, that's why I'm asking.

Well, the "momentarily seen details" may be seen longer if you disable auto calculation in Calculation menu, and reopen the file. Then you need to use F9 to trigger manual recalc.
Not that it fixes anything, just FYI.

Hi,

It works well in 5997, but fails with Maxima. It works again when Maxima is deleted.

Where is the %appdata%?
When I uninstall it (Windows10) I can see no left overs of SMath.
