In many instances, 6179 code is not as robust as it was 5346.
In this example, it appears the symbolic expansion can't be assigned
to a new function. Transit via copy/paste. Works great manual mode.
Observe the "root plot compactum".

I guess it is the same issue with nested expressions, that maple plugin doesn't digest since 5973.
The last good Smath is 5973. It has many new features and is stable enough. Omega1:=L(n,x) works fine in 5973 as well.

I did some tests and can confirm that the problem SS 2425 was introduced with 0.98.5973.
My impression is that I should change the portable distribution back to 0.98.5953. As that will be quite some work, I'd ask the developers to comment on what might be recommended.
Jean, can you please try if things work for you with 0.98.5953 just as good as 0.97.5346?
EDIT: Rolling back beyond 6096 will corrupt the maxima plugin. Davide's re-animation of the plugin SS 2347 works only this or newer versions.

Thanks Tom,
Martin is asking me an "act of God" trying 5973.
I don't have this version !

Tom,
Can you attach some examples of nested expressions that maple fails.
Please, attach the work sheet.
Thanks

Jean, here is how to make yourself feeling divine:
Howto make a portable version.sm (171 KiB) downloaded 78 time(s).
This explains how to maintain separate versions. Not only good for nailing down the versions where bugs emerged but also for risk-free testing of new versions.
