The Question:
- After I download & unzip "Interactive SMath Handbook" to a folder named "activebook"
- How do I make it appear as an option when I click... Tools > Plugins > Interactive Books ?

Details:
- At the bottom of the forum post:
https://en.smath.com/forum/yaf_postst2465_Reference-Book-where-is-it.aspx
- The Extensions Manager Shows... under Interactive Books...
1 - Mathreference Book
2 - Interactive SMath Handbook

- I only see 1 - "Mathreference Book" in my SMath.
- So I downloaded 2 - "Interactive SMath Handbook" viahttps://en.smath.com/view/interactivebook/summary
- unzipped it and got a folder named "activebook"
- put the folder... C:\Program Files (x86)\SMath Studio
- where I also see a folder named "book" which I assume is the Mathreference Book
- I click Tools > Plugins > Interactive Books
- Only 1 appears... Mathreference Book

Thanks for any help.

PS
When I click Tools > Plugins > Interactive Books > Online Gallary I see "Interactive SMath Handbook"
Should I use that instead of the downloaded one?

Hello,

Extensions downloaded from browsers requires to drag and drop the zip archive on the program canvas, this will install the extension in the proper directory.

The common way is to use the integrated extensions manager (tools > plug-ins)

Is the area in the SMath window where the worksheet is displayed.

Yes. However I've checked and this installation method works for plugins extensions but not for the interactive books, therefore to have it working in the SMath extensions you have to use the Extensions manager. You can still use the downloaded version (contents.sm is the initial page)

to manually install such extensions you have to unzip the content in %APPDATA%\SMath\extensions\books\{EXTENSION_ID}\{EXTENSION_VERSION} then add a config.ini file in the {EXTENSION_ID} path cotaining the number {EXTENSION_VERSION} in the first row); not straightforward but you are not supposed to deal with it in ordinary cases since there is the extensions manager.

Thank you Davide! Very helpful.

I also learned from this post ...
that if you click...

Tools > Plugins > Interactive Gallery > Local Image > Online Gallery > Interactive SMath Handbook > Download

It will download and install the interactive book.

This procedure will work, I'm sure, for anything else available via clicking Tools > Plugins > whatever

Maybe all this will also help some other SMath newbie learn to navigate the system a little quicker :-)

That's why I composed a portable distribution with all the stuff pre-installed. See link in the signature.
