It does not make sense that something as independent disappear by scrolling.
Things that Smath does not handle freaks the document in many ways:
can't scroll the page, turns white, can't stop calculation, can't close.
zap the file [root elements missing], crashes.
Stop PC, restart PC.
Install a small writer region, only writer region to insure it's the guilty.
Did you notice from fresh latest beta or from an older version open in
latest version ?

In this case it depends on the WriterRegion coding. To override some of the .NET lacks and behaviors the region performs an high number of graphic operations that impact on the user interface performances, both of the region itsself but even of the whole program. Therefore some time ago I've implemented an high level clipping filter to send drawing commands only for whatever actually intersects the screen, thus when you scroll the worksheet only the visible parts of the regions that are on your screen are drawn. Unfortunately under mono there are some big differences on some coordinate systems, hence the issue; now it should be fixed.
