Sometimes you have to give SMath a starting point while using roots() and FindRoot().
If you use roots() you also have to eliminate units or just simply multiply the unknown by its own unit.
FindRoot() can calculate with units, but again you have to give some starting point.

How do you insert the ; in the roots function?

This depends on your choice of Arguments Separator.
Look for Tools>Options>Argument Separator in menu.
If your option is comma then insert comma.
If your option is semicolon then insert semicolon.
I guess nobody use period for separator.
Some functions have additional argument support.
Actually number of argument could appear on placeholder if it is coded.
There is two argument roots() and three argument roots() as you can see.
