Polynomial Division Output Issue? - Messages
#1 Posted: 4/25/2017 4:01:46 PM
Greetings!
First post; first use of SMath! Glad to be here...
Found the SMath project while looking about for a modern replacement of my trusty old MathCad. It's quite aged; and I need something I can also use on Linux without resorting to Wine. Need the WYSIWYG man-readable interface; as my life is complicated enough without getting into the pointy-head commandline style of equation entry.
4*s on that critical point for SMath v.0.98
However, what brings me to the forum is best encapsulated with the following screenshot from my Windows machine while running both MCAD and SMath on the same polynomial division problem:

As you can see, MathCad 4 gets it together when calling "simplify"; and SMath, though 24 years newer, seems to miss the point wholeheartedly during the same operation. As a quick threshold criteria, I'm looking for a robust, concise output to ply when challenged with the basic task of polynomial long division.
So here's my question: Are there any plugins/configurations which can make this happen with SMath as expected?
Thanks again; and have a great day!

Sure: the Smath symbolic engine is 'maple' ... not completely coded
but works great for most current needs, example Laplace stuff.
Same as Mathcad: after the maple expression Ctrl+. for the symbolic expansion.

maple plugin not working for the current build in linux, but it can. Wine must be installed because plugin use it.
