I have another MC sheet I'm working on in SMATH. I am not certain how to solve for/ replace the "Find" solver in MC. Attached is my worksheet and the pdf of the Prime MC sheet.

I welcome any help to solve this.

Thank you,

This can be one of the solutions.
The "T" in the formula can be easily isolated.

Well done Carlos,

I think it can be plotted directly on the canvas
Will try tomorrow [tonight, I'm dead... not completely !]

roots(,,) solve on the canvas.
Next matter is the unit system to be adapted,
unfortunately incompetent on that !

Not nearly as nice as your Mathcad sheet...

Uses the symbolic solver in Maxima. You have to select one of the four solutions, I guess the
real positive one is correct.

Thank you, all, for your help. I'll look closer at the solutions presented; learning more about SMATH.

Martin, I get a message opening your sheet looking for "Maxima.bat". Is this in a plugin that I need to download? Your sheet presents the following message: "Initializing error. Please reinitialize under settigs."

Please follow the link in my signature, there you find instructions how to install Maxima (a free CAS system) and how to tell SMath where to find it.

Try this in stricly Smath ... done 6179.

Very interesting, but missing the physical drawing !!!

Hi. In the attached, just numerical methods, and how to parametrize the solver, like Mathcad find solve blocks.

Best regards.

Alvaro.

Norm,

observe closely your function ... it has rational format.
It suggests that a rational model would fit the data set.
Isn't true looking at the fit from a 4 terms rational.
The red and green traces from Carlos would be as easy, not done.

Please, don't forget the physical drawing.
You could do the very same in Mathcad.

Yet another one without using for-loops and using both [Built-in Plot] and [X-Y Plot Plugin].
God I really don't like to look at those for-loops, thanks to Andrey I will avoid them as much as I can. (Smath Studio 0.98.6604)

Not backward compatible ... maybe a bug ?
I welcomed that feature as it was announced. And reattached Mandelbroth,
no answer from Designers ... maybe not so gorgeous as you pretend.

Just needed be doctored a bit. It might be compacted.

It shouldn't work before 6580, using range like this is introduced with this verison as far as I remember. This is why I have written the Smath version I used. Anyway, below you can see how it looks. Still I think it looks better then for-loops.

Hi Jean.

The point about MAXITERS is to figure after the root function body, not before in such way that you can change it like TOL in Mathcad.

Also notice that in your worksheet you don't call the function Bisection defined there, but the function Bisection from the Nonlinear solvers plugin.

Best regards.

Alvaro.

Hello,

Sooner or later, this way or another - one will end up by using some nonlinear solvers.

I love for-loops !

1. with units => "Matrix must be square"
2. w/o units => "Can not calculate"
