Text Spacing - Spacing between words - Сообщения
#1 Опубликовано: 29.01.2013 15:59:37
- Does anyone know how to mitigate or eliminate the printed space between words? I know there is no fonts in the current release, but my issue is that the test "looks" correct on the work sheet, but has an extra large gap between words when printed (either printer of PDF). See attached example. Almost like the program went into a "Text Justify" mode.
- Any word on integrating a spell checker?
- Text formating, if applicable, per http://en.smath.info/forum/yaf_postst552_Text-formatting.aspx

This seems to be a problem with a buggy printer driver, try to update your printer driver.
Maybe your printer changes the fonts used by SMath.
Edit:
Make sure all of your computers have the same driver version.

WroteI think it's a bug. The text overruns on different computers. I formatted text on my laptop, when I opened on my desktop (same print drivers) my text is messed up. See attached.
Have you edited the sm file code using an editor?
Please attach a buggy file with related screenshots

Hi Elsid,
I reported something like that issue when opening one of the built-in samples (menu help->examples)
http://en.smath.info/forum/yaf_postst909_overlapped-regions-when-opening-help-examples.aspx
I can't reproduce it now on xp, i'll try this sample later on my laptop with vista.
You mention that you are working with the portable version, I'll try to confirm this problem with screen resolutions.

I thought that the extra space issue was not related to the overlapping regions issue.
I've checked the "computation gravity" sample again on my other computer with different operating system (I have a desktop with xp and a laptop with vista).
I can say it is not related to the portable version and doesn't have to do with changing screen resolutions, I think it might be due to different videocard drivers.
Compare this screenshot with the one I made about a year ago,
http://en.smath.info/forum/yaf_postst909_overlapped-regions-when-opening-help-examples.aspx
there are fewer overlapping regions but the problem is not completely fixed.

ok i think i get the solution! actually after seeing on the list of latest changes of 0.96.4902 :
"MSI installer improved to support different DPI settings"
I installed the msi installer but couldn't see that option, btw my other smath installation was broken after uninstalling this version to keep using mono-portable.
Well to the point: just change DPI settings in your operating system.
I guess Andrey might be working in scaling dpi from within the program so that the user doesn't have to change the os configuration.
Now despite the recommended resolution for my 15.4"" 33x21cm 16:10 monitor is 1280x800px the font is too little for working with the pc in general, so it would be desirable that the dpi settings (an its relation with regions?) were saved into the original .sm worksheet.

It is NOT a satisfactory solution, please read the two last lines from my post above in this thread.
It is not the exact/original display: everyone has a different dpi setting, SMath should track the original dpi with which the original worksheet was created. I wonder if the zoom slider in modern MSOffice versions exists for these situations.
Besides:
-depending on your monitor this type of changes may kill your eyes!
-you would be forced to change/guess the proper dpi every time a different person shared a worksheet with you.
I hope SMath can deal automatically with dpi for you.

Thank you all.
I'm informed regarding non-standard DPI related issue (spaces between words is not related one) and already started researching.
Best regards, Andrey Ivashov.

Andrey,
you are awesome
This may be the cause of the text blocks on some of my ancient SMAth worksheets overlapping and loosing "anchors" or alignment.
Thanks
John
