@ENGR
Awesome work. I like this file

@Jean Giraud
On my computer your file has a calculation time of more than 3 minutes, while the original file calculates in less than 3 secs. Can't find the reason for this.

A few things for improvements:
- Is it possible, to dynamicaly adjust the diagram area/axis?
- There's a diagram for the deflection of the bending moment. What about a diagram of the deflection of the shear force? In my daily work this usualy can't be ignored
- This sheet calculates the max. values of moment, shear and deflection. Can this be extended to calculate also the values on a special position?

Great work

It does not make sense at all. Here is the work sheet.

Jean, thanks for reviewing the file and the comments. I really appreciate the better singularity function you provided.

Good work

I still have a problem with the calculation time. But I think it's a problem of my system and not of this document. I need e.g for the *fill-functions between 1...2 minutes(!) each. But it varies very much.

By my checks I noticed, that the original file was made in two languages (englisch and russian). When you want to keep this feature you have to write no text inside the diagram areas, because the plot region plugin doesn't support this feature.

And finally:
In the wiki there's a (small) list of examples. I think this file would be a good addition for this list. If you consider the power of SMath this list is far to small! Just an idea...

not impossible to do, you have to use the function description()

Attached is the Imperial (US units) version of the Simple Beam Analysis worksheet for anyone who wishes to use it.

SimplySpanBeam_ImperialUnits.sm (174 КиБ) скачан 157 раз(а).

For the worksheet to operate correctly the attached units.xml must be used in place of the original file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\SMath Studio\entries folder. Please make a backup copy of the original units.xml file before switching so that you can always go back to the original.

Units.xml.txt (26 КиБ) скачан 191 раз(а). (remove the .txt extension before use)

The attached units.xml file has been modified so that US Imperial units are the default for the Length, Area, Volume, Force, Pressure, and Mass categories.

Thank you for sharing that xml file. Since it's in the program directory, would that xml file get overwritten by program updates? Would users need to replace the units file with this one every time a new SMath version is installed?

I don't understand much in there. If needed, easy to zap units.
Added linfitCheby to enrich the project.
Easy to find the location of the max bending.
As you will play with the loads distribution, the fit will auto-update.
Few minutes job ... hope useful ... Jean

Yes, your intuition is spot on: this file will be overwritten when you install a different version (making the file readonly had no effect). If you do upgrade your 「Units.xml」, you have to keep a copy on hand. With that being said, DO NOT save your copy in the 「C:\Program Files (x86)\SMath Studio\entries\」; this folder location appears to process ALL xml files, so having your 「Units.xml」 and your 「Units_Copy(1).xml」 in this folder will cause your SMath to crash (as it tries to add units that already exist).

Also, with regards to modifying the 「Units.xml」 file: make sure your modifications do not corrupt the 「Constants.xml」 file! In essence, the 「Constants.xml」 is an extension of 「Units.xml」 and may or may not have the appropriate factors/multipliers when compared to the modified 「Units.xml」.

Take care,
