Hello,
As far as I know, there are no such functions in SMath. A also do not know if anyone is preparing some plugins in regarding to expand the SMath numerical capabilities - I would also like to know that. It would be great if someone would be willing to repackage some of the freely available numerical libraries into SMath. I do not even know if that could be possible.
For instance, Matlab is considered as an engineering "numero uno" standard calculation tool. Lots of Matlab code has been "borrowed" from different available Fortran and C++ code during all these years of Matlab existance. Of course, Matlab is a product of thousands of professionals. SMath is the product entirely made almost by a single person.
As a second solution, you could try to make your own SMath function for finding function optimum. This is possible by using the recent developed SMmath features like functions as function arguments and multiline functions
