I am trying to enter the equation at the top of page 17 of this intro guide:
https://smath.com/wiki/GetFile.aspx?File=Tutorials/IntroductionSMathStudio088May2010.pdf

formula

The first multiplicand with units goes in fine, as does the numerator with units of the second multiplicand. However, SMath Studio will not permit me to enter a denominator under the full numerator (value and units) of the second multiplicand.

When I press the space bar, various objects become underlined, but never the entire numerator (with units) of the second multiplicand:

Problem

I then am unable to enter the denominator under the complete numerator (value with units) of the second multiplicand.

Is this a bug, or user error? How to fix?

Note: I can enter the values, and then return and enter the units, but I would prefer to do it in one pass.

Thanks.

Does not work for me either. 2010 is pretty old ....

Now it works but it has do do with the exponential threshold, but not mentionned at all

μN => exp threshold [6]
mN => exp threshold [3]
N => exp threshold [9]

No problem to enter the denominator. Open brackets first, type the stuff, square

Cheers collab.

I think that should be considered a bug or at least a missing feature in the user interface.

When you write a new formula: add a division before writing the second multiplicand

2.5 ► 'mg ► [space or right arrow] ► * ► / ► [numerator] ► [right arrow] ► [denominator]

To edit an existing formula probably the fastest way is to transit through the plain text (copy the whole formula in a text region or in notepad, wrap the multiplicand in curly brackets, copy and paste back as math -> the multiplicand will be selectable)

2.5*'mg*{10.5*'ft}

Yes David,

for this case with units, I should have written:
1. edit the firt term
2. call *, call divide
3. edit numerator
4. edit denominator: Open brackets first, type the stuff, square
5. edit result from the unit menu
6. finish editing the result

μN => exp threshold [6]
mN => exp threshold [3]
N => exp threshold [9]
