Hello people,
I'm new to this kind of software. Normally i work with excel.
I'm doing internships with students where they measuring for example for different flow the losses in a system. In Excel i did that calculation in a table, but it was hard to display the formulars.
So now my problem is: When i put the values which were measured in a matrix, it is not possible to square it...
Addition is workig really well.
So should i put it in lists? But with lists its not possible to do addition...
You may have a look to my data...
i have the vector v1 and in the formula i need v1^2, but it doesnt calculate the right value...

Hi. You can use v1[k for square it, or better, not using the k range, with the vectorize operator (the arrow in the matrix palette) when the expression is evaluated for some more complicated expression than sums or products by scalars. Please, see the attached.

SMath vectorization is something like dot operator in matlab.

... few more stuff for your Classroom Internships.
The orifice Plate [ISO-5167] is the standard I have use since Windows.
Previous to Windows, used Sharp pocket calculator iterative method.
Previous to calculating machinery: used the Foxboro booklet and log tables.
One way or another, Iso-5167 implements the 1970 Foxboro.
Orifice plate is an Engineering document.

1. [1975..77] I was involved with the Montreal sewage pumping station, at the time the world
biggest project of the kind, presented to an International Symposium [Yougoslavia].
17 pumps 100000 UGM each, of which two variable speed, 139 ft deep. At the top discharge, 17 Venturi
flow measuring devices, each 8 ft diameter [Brooks ~ 1000000 $ each] Pump engine 4500 HP each.
2. The best beta ratio [Orifice Plate] is around 0.62. Installed in machined meter run and lab tested
give the best accurate mass-flow rate. An industrial plant may have 100's measuring points. It won't
be be practical to have each flow meter associated with its own calibration. Instead we calculate/bore
each orifice plate with its own beta ratio, thus minimizing the burden of the Instrument Men !
No point to purchase expensive Orifice Plate software, Smath does it just perfect.
