I updated SMath and now in the latest version 0.97 build 5154.

The problems: The derivative and the definite integral buttons do not work.
Click the derivative button --> result x'
Click the definite integral --> result int(x)

If I use "Insert" --> "Function", thinks normal.

I have tried to uninstall then install the latest version, but the same problem.

Temporary, I use "Insert" menu.

Hello waluyo

It seems that from the side panel we now insert diff(1) (derivative in prime notation) and int(2) (indefinite integral). They will actually work if Maxima plugin will take over derivatives and integrals. It is not a big problem. Just input the arguments and argument separator afterwards. Or just start typing "diff" or "int" and choose from the Dynamic Assistance the right one.

But it seems unusual. Users expect the symbol to appear when clicking the button.
The previous versions do not show this behavior.

I am not quite sure why is this changed in the recent version. I agree with you that user expect the symbol from the button. Unfortunately, there are other symbols from the palette which are different from the ones you see when clicking on them (like symbolic evaluation, percent sign (%), vector element (el) etc.). I am personally in favor to see on the screen the same symbol I see on the palette.

Both, derivatiives and indefinite integral work work perfect !

d/dx from the palette gives the first order derivative
For higher order derivatives, go to f(x) menu and get the 3 argument diff(3)
argument 3 is the nth order , put n in there, define some 3rd order polynomial test
f(x):= something
assign the drivative to a function D(x):= your nth order derivative,
define some n:= ,,, either n:=0, n:=1 n, n:=2, n:=3
Plot D(x) and make your n:= " as you wish" and see the derivative(s) plotting

From f(x) menu, get diff(4)
arguments 3 & 4 is the range variable you integrate wrt [With Respect to] argument(2)
argument (1) is your function, per say f(x,w,t). If you put 'x' in argument(2)
it will integrate f(x,w,t) wrt 'x'
This is great stuff, if you discretise arguments (3) & (4), you will get the
cumulative integral from the starting argument(3) up to the end argument(4).
If your argument(4) is a non linear function [per say sqrt] you will get a
NON-linear cumulative integral ,,, a 1/1 Mathcad/Maple 11 !!!
