1. Capture image [the best WinGrab]
2. Select the portion
3. Crop image
4. Save as *.PNG
5. The inserted image shows in forum.

6. Save as *.BMP
7. Image will not show in forum.

9. Open with IrfanView.

Hi Britt. Select a SMath area, copy it, and paste into any Microsoft office program (excel, word, ppoint, etc). It paste as image. Then you can save it as image from the office program, and upload here, via the clip button in the post toolbar.
Best regards.
Alvaro.
If yes it ask you for the http link to where you have uploaded the image on the wiki site ( or somewhere else ) so looks to me that the process is not so straightforward as you describe.
Hope I am wrong as usually.
Best regards
Franco
thank you.

WinGrab is like IrfanView: the two most precious freeware tools
as old in my box than they existed. So, you have WinGrag icon
in the tool bar, click to activate, click "start capture"
my selected key is F11, clikck F11 , from there select region.
Crop image, save as ... as explained before.
PrintScreen is another option via Paint, but stupid enough
Win 7 can't save image. Win 7 is Win/Win business only.
Win 7 is "Me, Myself & I"
WroteSorry Alvaro but for Clip button you mean the Insert Image button on the top row menu of a message creation page .

Tried what you said, all I got was the path to my file typed in the post. I figured out what I needed to post, so won't be needing this till another time.
thank you. Need to do it this way. Can't just add freeware when I want. It's a work computer
WroteDo you have Microsoft One Note installed on your work computer?
yes
Your monitor will be shaded white and you can use your mouse to select which par of the screen you want to copy. A popup will come up and choose to copy to clip board. I use paint and paste the image. Then save it to a file.
When you want to up load an image to SMath, simply make a post as usual, click on the paperclip icon, choose upload new files, add the files you want to upload and click upload. You can also do this with actual smath .sm files if you want to upload those as well.

Hi Franco. You usually are right. I mean this button:
______________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________
Which starts this dialog, for upload any aceptable document to the post:
______________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________
About pasting images from SMath, office programs paste the clipboard from SMath as image, by default. Also, you can capture screen to, from office programs, as Alyles says.
Best regards.
Alvaro.

When I click the paperclip icon, I get this:
You are not having any attachments yet, to add one click on the Upload New File(s) button

Hi. Yes, click on it, choose your file from the attach file dialog, and then click on "Starts uploads". After that the system remember your upload files, and shows them, but you always can upload more, even with the same name.
Best regards.
Alvaro.
thanks for your feedback ..this means that till now I have used the wrong method.
I have always thought that to attach a screenshot taken in any way and saved in .png or .jpg I had to use NOT the paperclip icon but the previous one in your screenshot (the one with a landscape ..we can say ) ...and this is the reason that I try always to explain something by words and not pictures ( that would be much easier ).
So as your method is better and simpler suggest to explain it in the wiki/tutorial and not the other ones that are more cumbersome.
Best regards
Franco

Ciao Franco
I don't know if this method is better, it's just different, and always is good to have several ways to do something. I guess that the better description could be an animated gif, but my screen record software is the windows default: xbox for gaming, and isn't very good.
Best regards.
Alvaro.
remember a while ago, the times attached images were 1/1 Smath work sheets,
now YafNet truncates the quality ... whatever. I put my images in the forum
in much less times to explain and read ... just few clicks from the right tools.
What do you think, Windows does not open or crap an official Aeronautics drawing.
IrfanView does, zoom/rotate at will ... +++
