Similar bug including all work sheet regions was reported,

from recollection: not attended ... still existing once in a while.

Worksheets with unwanted black background still exists because is a property saved in the affected files, but those are a marginal number and the bug on saving is fixed in recent versions of SMath Studio.

Since black is a valid background color there aren't robust ways to improve the loading of affected files directly on program side (and anything would add a small time penalty on loading for each region in each file, all for a once in a bluemoon case, very noticeable and easily fixable from user-side that single time it happens).

To fix those existing worksheets you can either:
1. open the file, select the black regions and change the background color to transparent;
2. use a batch fix method like those proposed here: https://en.smath.com/forum/yaf_postsm75355_Black-regions.aspx#post75355
