From LibreOffice/OpenOffice you could save again the odt file as a docx file with editable formulas for MS Office.

I think the project is still alive, f.e. Andrey has updated the SVN server a few days ago

I bet Andrey is busy with some port to a mobile platform (ie, android). This would require quite some effort, hence this silence.
