Click with the left mouse button close to the region:
drag to the opposite corner until the region turns into blue:
Release the mouse button:
The same is for selecting multiple adjacent regions:
If you want to select not adjacent regions, just select the fist one and the subsequent ones add by pressing (and kepping) CTRL button. Then with the left mouse button add the regions of interest.
