We all know that the symbolic engine in SMath can give us a headache sometimes (or to often?). Here is a situation when we can not interrupt a never-ending calculation.

Hi. As a margin note, I have this issue too, but if don't save the worksheet notice that after first try of interrupt the calculus, you can select all (with control-A) and copy and paste in a new worksheet (with control N) and save it, for not loose the unsaved work. The you can kill the smath process.

Best regards.
Alvaro.

Thank you!

It is really a complex thing to kill the thread in the scope of one process for application. But I've just improved calculation interruption functionality, so it will work well now in case of attached Worksheet (and in many others).
Just let me know if it will happen again.

Improvement will be available into the next nightly build.

Best regards.

6179 does not crash. It ends @ Syntax is incorrect.
It does not understand "roots" and the otherwise Jacob.
... from an input vector, you apply some maths
ending to a resulting vector. What are you
attempting to solve between these two vectors ?

Hello Jean,

We already had a discussion about this problem many times, see this thread for example. To repeat once more. It tries to solve the system of nonlinear equations f(X)=0 (eleven equations with eleven unknowns). This is a version of the well known "flash calculation". I posted it a long time ago and also mentioned many times that this problem remained unsolvable for me in SMath. I mentioned it this time pointing out the interruption of never-ending calculation.

Regrettably, these problems of solving nonlinear equations remained unsolvable for me in SMath for many years and I am trying to give up on them. Nevertheless, regarding this problem I was triggered on once more by this post.

Regards,
Radovan
