I have attached aReflection.sm (50 KiB) downloaded 31 time(s). .sm file containing a computation I would very much like to plot.
The geometry is shown in the picture below.
Can someone help ?
Thanks,

problem geometry

Oh ! ... your proposal is not much productive, is it ?
The picture is strictly discontinuous.

I don't think L is discontinuous for ddegrees in the range 0 to 60.

What am I missing here ?

L(ddegrees) should vary smoothly from L(0) to L(60)

You are missing to plot the literal demo diagram,
here is as per your inputs [a,b,s,t].
More is missing from incomplete project description.

Refreshed from your literal inputs.
You may have to revisit your College Physics book.
Cheers ... Don't hesitate.

Yes the length L is continuous with respect to ddegrees. I think Jean misunderstands the question. See attached. (A little sloppy but it works)

Edit: Updated graph to add labels
Edit2: Had an error in definition of L. Fixed.

Quite right: misunderstood the travelling distance vs °incidence.
Thanks, interesting project. We need more real projects.

... You can have it to a good degree of accuracy
as a continuous function, though a bit strange.

FYI Jean you're using one of my earlier files where I had a copy paste error in the derivation of L(d), the second root term should only have s*tan(d*pi/180). You can get rid of the "c-"

Thanks ... updated.
The model fit is brute force, limited.
From my 100's models, not one immediate.
If interested: let me know, not sure if possible.

I understand the idea to tabulate as demanded,
in fact useless as you have the continuous function.
Purely Edu. LinfitCheby added.
No problem to export as a function.
Thanks alyles for completing the project.
