Hello everybody,
when my students print their SMath files it appeares that some of the printouts does not show the arithmetic operator fro multiplication "*" but instead the "|" line instead.

I did install the program from USB-stick, so all laptops have the same version. After install we did not alter any setups. And all Laptops print 2 the same printer. And further are all laptops of the same type/modell including OS (Win10).

Any suggestions, why some prints show the arithmetic operator and others not...?

Kind Greetings

Dirk Oliver Schüler

That's a printer problem.
A printer prints 1/1 the work sheet as it appears in work sheet,
except usually messing some graph and images.
If you check Print Preview in your work sheet,
does it show correct or messy ?

The PrintPreview looks fade in my small laptop,
but will print as is [didn't print anything for > 2 years !]
Your printer does not recognize universal html code.

I cannot speak to the whether the printing issue is SMath or Printer related, but a possible workaround might be to save as a ".pdf" extension using File->Save As and choosing PDF under "Save as type:" drop down. You could then print the PDF version of the document.

Not ideal, but it may work if no other solution can be found.

Version 6179 does not have Save as *.PDF.
Otherwise, Print as *.PDF ... done, rename save somewhere.
For hard print, the printer must be able to recognize
vector graphic from the PDF... costs $ 0 to try.

What SMath Studio version are you using?
What DPI are you using in printer setup?
Is this issue is applicable for "*" only? Please try vector multiplication, boolean equal, parentheses and sum()/prod() functions.

Please try to instal PDF plug-in from Extensions Manager and try to save as PDF afterwards. What will you see in the output PDF file?

I need this info to start evaluation.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards, Andrey Ivashov.

Any suggestions

Rather questions:
1. 2.5 MB for 4 simple arithmetic ?
2. What generates the gray background ?
3. Is that what it prints ? Visibility is around 7 % zoom down
4. Check the keyboard style as well.

Also, if I understand correctly and with same program and same printer you have different printing results, check for differences in the printer options in each PC; in some printers there is a "replace font" option to deal with true type fonts (see here or here for reference)
If you like my plugins please consider to support the program buying a license; for personal contributions to me: paypal.me/dcprojects
