It as been a long road to find something that actually worked. I installed Zorin OS 18.1. Downloaded the SMathStudio ... .appImage, if failed to launch
The forum suggest down loading SMathStudio ... .tar,gz and expand it to create a momo folder. A procedure suggested to use was years old and the programs told to use were way out of date and not even available.
I have a windows pc also which had no problem installing SMathStudio ... .msi
The wine that match Zorin OS 18. Failed when running SMathStudio ... .msi giving a problem with NET version.
What does work is Bottles that match Zorin OS 18. Ran SMathStudio ... .msi with the starting page on the screen.

Actually problem is Mono installation of all debain (or ubuntu) based distros.
It is broken for nearly two decades, and there is no fix of I know.
Only proper way to correct this is manual reinstallation of Mono.

Try to do what I had done in this reply, pretty sure SMath will run.
In fact, this will fix Mono for all c# programs using it.
